Minimum temperatures are below normal by 2-5 C over many parts of northwest & central India and some parts of east India. They are below normal by 2-3 C over some parts of Gujarat and northeastern States. Minimum temperatures are above normal by 2-4 C over many parts of east coast and some parts of interior peninsula and near normal over remaining parts of the country.
The lowest minimum temperature of 3.6 C was recorded at Sarsawa (Uttar Pradesh).
Synoptic features & Guidance (based on 1730 hrs IST Observations):
A cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Arabian Sea in lower levels.
A north-south trough extends from north Assam to northeast Bay of Bengal at 0.9 km above sea level.
Numerical weather prediction (NWP) Guidance:
Northwesterly winds continue to prevail over Indo-Gangetic Plains in lower levels.
An easterly wave is affecting extreme south peninsular India.
Latest Satellite Guidance:
KALPANA 1 Cloud imagery at 1430 hours IST shows convective clouds over parts of south & westcentral Bay of Bengal, southeast Arabian Sea, Kerala and Tamilnadu. Low/medium clouds are seen over parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and peninsular India.
Major features of weather forecast (upto 1730 hours IST of 22nd November, 2009):
Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity is likely over south peninsular India during next 24 hours and decrease thereafter.
Isolated to scattered rain/snow is likely over western Himalayan region from 23rd onwards.
No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over northwest India during next 24 hours and slight rise thereafter.

Isolated to scattered rainfall activity is likely over extreme south peninsular India, northeastern States and Jammu & Kashmir.
Dry weather conditions are likely over most parts of the remaining country.
